I think that was pretty much my point, wasn't it? To sell it here they would have to take half the stuff off of it and then it becomes more in line with being the sport version of an "entry level" car. Clearly even the US Focus enthusiasts don't want to spend $30,000 for it, and if the US Focus enthusiasts won't pay for it, who will?? You guys can lust over it all you want but it's pretty obvious even from this small, unscientific poll that there is no market for this car. Remember, the people who say "I'd be all over that like stink on a monkey" are the same people who swear if someone sets up a group buy for product xyz they'll buy one, then when it comes time to buy it, suddenly the money disappeared.

*shrugs* the main reason I'm not buying a Ford for my next car is because they don't offer anything with all those features. I've got my SVTF for fun and I can invest into it if I feel like making a supermonster. Otherwise I'm going with Lexus/Volvo to get a nice balance of power, handling, luxury, and interior technology.

I think (don't quote me on this 'cause I could be wrong) but Ford has dominated the muscle car with the new Stang, truck with F150 and domestic sport compact with the Focus... until everyone put FI in. But look at this... the SVTf wasn't the fastest car, but it was the best thing you could get for the money. It was a winner in all circles because it had bang for buck performace. Ford may not need to have the MK dominate the HP game, but beat them all again with value.

here's a question, what's the MK running in euro's and what does it convert to in US dollars?

ST comes with bluetooth technology, voice activated climate control, and GPS navigation. It has recaro 10-way adjustable heated seats, heated front windshield, MP3 player and Xenon headlights. 6-speed transmission, folding side mirrors, 4-piston brake calipers up front. Keyless ignition and doors (and I'm not talking with a remote control). And there's a 4-dr option.
monkey... good job Ford guys.

Because Americans, as a whole, see the Focus as the bottom of Ford's lineup. Efficient, small, cheap, get from Point A to Point B. MOST people wouldn't want a Focus with heated windshield and all those sweet gadgets (unless it cost the same as the current ones, which makes no sense).

So my guess is, if/when something like the ST comes over, it will be watered down and "Americanized" to be a little tool-around car, not a majestic beast like this is. It's sad, because I would like access to something very similar to what's shown above, but I'm not sure Ford would be willing to take a gamble on that, at least so far they haven't stuck their necks out relying on an American interest in a sporty compact hatch type car.
This might be an untrue statement if Ford plays their cards right. The Fiesta is coming back. That then can take the place as the eco box for the Ford family, then moving the Focus into what? It already has a strong aftermarket and loyal fan's. Remember, the Focus is the number one repeat buyer vehicle in America. If they allow the MK to be exclusive and run it close to an SVT type or rebadge it as an SVTf(I think it would be cheaper on them if they did that) I think it would have a chance here.

Sure... a 5 cyn TURBO is right on par with NA Civic SI's and yawnable performance Tc's... oh and by the way... RX-8 start at 25,000ish. We're talking at the max, the MK would be 25000ish.

Dunno about the MK2 but the MK2 Focus ST is between 17K-19K sterling pounds, or converted 31K-35K united states dollars

I'm pretty F'n sick and tired of our AMERICAN car maker turning out all the good product across the ocean.

GRRRRRRR

If it was loaded... I'd pay up to the price of a Mustang GT.. If it was going to be more than that.... what's the point? I'd just buy a Mustang GT
