Agreed, after owning a VWfor years the Focus was the next logical choice for me. The SVT Focus just brought back all the joy and memories of my late '80s GTI 16V, fun, comfortable, all around enjoyable car to drive. Unfortunately family responsibilities required me to sell my SVT but I was hoping to replace it with next generation ST... guess not. Looks like I will have to be content with my Sierra RS Cosworth and Mazda3 or maybe updrade to the MazdaSpeed3 whenever that becomes available.

Anyone remeber the Ford Cosworths? 2 liter AWD turbo, 220+HP BTCC/Rallye inspired. I still don't understand why these cars could not be sold here. The Cosworth Escorts even came with daul airbags, ABS brakes and a catalytic convertor, I guess Ford didn't want a car taking the attention away from the Mustang. I actually attempted to import one but couldn't justify the cost, (over $40K) so I built one... kinda of. I took a late 80's Merkur XR4TI and installed the entire driveline from a Cosworth Escort (same chassis), then I installed the body parts to make it look like a Sierra RS Cosworth. I now have an AWD Sierra RS Cosworth, that can hang with an EVO/STI all day for a little over half the price...

Thanks again FORD!!!

It's at the bodyshop now but here are a few of the transformation...

As a Merkur XR4Ti.

Cosworth Engine installed

Cosworth single window conversion done, primed and ready for paint

What the finished car will look like in a few weeks

Amazing...those were such unique rides when they were out, but so under-appreciated. That'll be awesome, great work !

Thanks... it's almost two years since I started this project. About a third of that time was spent sourcing and waiting for parts to get here from the UK, folks over there have no sense of urgency.

i would deffinately buy it. My buddy has a T5 volvo and has tweeked it very easily. With a boost controller and basic bolt ons he had it running low 14's without any after market tunning. The focus will be lighter and more sporty. I dont see where anyone could go wrong if its around 23k-26k. Its basically vovlo quality in a ford which is pretty sweet.
