In terms of real world performance and not magazine numbers, the ST outclasses the SRT-4 in most respects. As a track or autocross car, it would outperform the SRT-4 anyday, and it would still be more civilized and balanced on a regular road. The interior is better than the SRT-4's and any Focus we get here in the States, but the chassis and suspension development are even better. That's something the SRT-4 seriously lagged behind in (building on a very old platform).

also remember that most cars that are brought over here from other markets, especially european markets, are given a large performance boost in order to compete with its competition. Due to relatively cheap gas here, buyers can afford to have possibly excessive power in the highest performing version of the model. Also, the old SVT smoked the SRT-4 in a MotorTrend head-to-head a few years back, since then the SRT-4 has been improved so FoMoCo would definitly not introduce a model that is less powerful and slower then its direct competitor.

SRT-4 is dead.

I don't really consider the SRT-4 a direct competitor with the Focus. The SRT-4 is a 4-banger muscle car in my mind, but it does do some things fairly well besides going fast straight. I would consider the Cooper S and the Civic SI a better competitor to the Focus ST if it were ever brought stateside.

If you think the cars get a power boost when brought stateside you're mistaken...the only major difference between the USDM and the worldwide market is the availability of smaller engines worldwide (ie there's no 1.4/1.6/1.8L Zetecs/Duratecs here.) Plus some of the cars you can get in Europe absolutely put the best of what's available here to shame...Euro "muscle" cars sporting quad-turbo W-12 engines that lay down 600+ WHP from the factory, not to mention all of the supercars that are readily available. The difference is in Europe cars are more of a luxury than a necessity...someone can easily go their entire life without owning a car in Western Europe and get around just fine, mainly because they have a viable mass-transit system. If anything, when cars are imported here they're downgraded because unlike the rest of the world, we'll pay several thousand dollars for a piece of junk that breaks down and ends up costing more to keep running than you originally paid.

Looks good and all but I wouldn't buy it. There are much better cars than that out there. Besides I bet the price is gonna be too high. That thing will not sell for less than 30,000. Even if it did I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Is it a totalled or salvage car? Considering the MSRP translates to ~$31,000 USD off the lot (17,000 GBP), that's almost half price...I'd think twice before buying.
