I say just limit the amount coming here... slap a 24-27k price tag and say whoever wants one, come get it... I'd be in line the day the got to the dealer... the focus needs some respect and that car might be able to give it some...

well, for the cost of 3, STs. Yes 3, because you need 2 for crash testing to certify it for DOT. Then top all of that off with emissions requirements, which would probably rob some power off of it, Probably different headlights, as those xenons aren't DOT approved....yeah that looks feasible for a 30,000 dollar car....

Ford will do something, I doubt we will be getting the MKII focus, but the Volvo variant will be here within two years, built on the same C1 platform, with the same engine, and interior. However, if you thought the focus rear end looks bad, the volvo is spectacular in its vomit inducing abilities! There's also another option. The focus is getting the corporate 3 bar grille next year (think fusion), and they may be able to market something like that. But sigh, its still on the same C170 platform that the current focus is on. And until the knuckledragers learn to make more than left turns at speed, the performance for Ford will be designed for the straight line, with minimal turning.

I've been encouraged by the GT500 mustang, as far as overall performance, but then the SVT explorer sport trac is debuting at the NAIAS this year, so back to the basics for SVT then. Maybe the upcoming SVT fusion holds hope?

I'd probably be willing to pay up to $25,000 for one of the MkII Focus ST's. The performance in impressive, though, from what I understand, 5 cyl engines are inherently unstable. It has unbeatable looks, good performance, and it's relativley cheap. If only they would make an AWD variant of it, perfect for Michigan and Wisconsin winters, a WRX beater.

Not that I live in the US but I wouldn't buy it. It looks like a squashed Mondeo if you ask me and for the same cash over her in the UK you can get some much nicer second hand machinery. If I was going to get one I'd wait till it was three years old and half the price.

And I wouldn't go for orange either...

I don't have much intellect to offer on the new ST, but I will say that if Ford decides to sell it here with 223 horses. Keep it under $22,000. But offer it with at least 240 horses, I might consider paying an extra 3k for it.

All in all, if Ford were to offer this model within the next six months stateside, you can damn well believe that I will be one of the first in my area to purchase one. This is a good step for Ford to take in changing minds about that "rental car mentality". Dodge creates sharp, fresh designs in every new car that has been coming out, but I honestly think that they would never have been able to pull this one off.

Ford has a winner with me and I will be waiting to get an F.I. Focus of my own. Now if they would only put out a limited production run of an AWD variant with three hundred horses, I would gladly take one over an EVO or STI anyday.
