Oh yeah!

I think if I could just cover my eyes and be able to get in the car without ever seeing it, then uncover my eyes once inside -- I'd probably be comfortable purchasing one then.

How bout they do this.......leave it over there because we need something more original than taking a euro car and bringing it here. 23,000??? haha how bout the same price that the Focus here r? because 23,000 for a focus is crazy. I'm sry....I own a focus and wouldn't pay that much its just crazy.

you realize the european focus is equivalent to the volvo s40 here, same chassis, engine, safety, but the euro focus has more interior features/options
23,000 for the POS zx3 you drive is crazy, but less than 30,000 for the european focus ST which the poll is regarding to, is equally crazy. the base MSRP is over 31,000 before tax title and fees and ford is having no trouble selling them

They are having no problem moving them, because Europe is a completely different market than North America. Europeans are accustomed to paying more for a car that in this market would be considered a "cheapo" car. That's not going to change. At least not any time in the near future.

so a car with leather, heated and cooled seats, turbo 5 cylinder, bluetooth cell phone integration, heated windshield filaments, with voice controlled GPS/climate/phone is considered cheap-o in this market and american's wouldn't pay 30K for it? gee, someone's been lying in BMW/Mercedes/Lexus/Lincoln/Cadillac/Audi/Volvo's financial statements for the past 2 decades
EL OH EL its actually vice versa, if you tried passing off the mustang GT with the miniscule interior options and crap handling over on a european buyer for the same price of a Focus ST using the "OMG ITS GOT A BIG INJUN N CAN GO 2FAST2FURIOUS WEN U HIT TEH PEDUL JUST DONT TURN TEH WEEL CUZ IT SPINZ" line all the nascar rednecks wet themselves for, they would laugh at americans for it.

{sigh} The FOCUS is considered a cheapo car here, yes. It doesn't matter what you put on it or what you do to it, the public has already long ago formed the perception that the Focus is Ford's cheapest car, and would not be interested in a $30,000 + model of the Focus.

the mk11 focus needs a new name to hide it as a focus and ford can re-introduce the festiva or the aspire to take the "focus off the focus" heheh

That's what they should have done in the first place, or at least shortly after introducing the Focus here in 2000. If they had a car underneath the Focus, once the Contour/Mystique were gone the Focus would have become the clear "middle" car and maybe by now we'd be more open to the idea of a Focus costing more than $20,000. But, they didn't do that, the only car cheaper than the Focus was the Escort ZX2 which was all but invisible to most people and disappeared after 2003, so the Focus is what everyone thinks of as Ford's cheapest car.
It just ain't gonna happen folks. Our best bet for a performance-oriented version of the Mk. II Focus is to wait for a hot version of the Mazda 3.
