Performance diff between Atx n Mtx 2000 ZTS's

any one have the figures .. 0-60 , 1/4 stuff like that assuming the driver of the mtx is a good driver.. The reason i ask this is because where i live almost all used car's up for sale are automatic accept car's like honda civics. And im not a big fan of them..

Any who im looking at buying a blue 2000 focus ZTS /w Atx .. and im wondering if their all that much slower then a Mtx or if i should hold off till what i turely wants comes around.
a zx-3 /w mtx.

Your best bet is to get a manual. A friend of mine is selling a black ZX3 in Duluth for $7000 IIRC. Car has something like 60,000 on it. If you're interested send me a PM and I can get you in touch with him.

If you plan to do alot of mods, and do any racing with the car, go manual from the start, or if you got have some money to burn or just want to be different go with an auto. Or if bracket racing is your think, an auto will help there aswell. 1/4mile wise auto's are about a second off..

In general I think manuals lose about 15% of crank hp once it gets to the wheels, autos lose around 23%. So there's that too.

However, last I knew only about 1 in 10 focuses built came with an MTX (not counting the ST/SVT) so it can be more difficult to find, especially used. If you find a base/stripped Focus it may have a stick shift, because maybe it didn't come with any options at all.

MTX's are so damn hard to find. When I looked into buying a focus they had a stripped down MTX ZX3 with zetec and the ZTS with 2.3 atx. The 2.3 was more spunky even with the atx. I'm with everybody else I have atx and wish I could have gotten at mtx. But I dont autocross. I plan on installing a turbo and have fun at the 1/8 mile track. Who wouldnt like to see a 13sec atx focus ;-)
