2007 Ford Focus (US & Canada)

Ok folks... so I have been searching the internet and forums through and through.. and I am anxious about the 07 focus for N/A...

mostly because there is so little about it out there.. and I am worried there will be no change for 07 (or 08 or 09 or 10) ...

There is a little blurb:
Quote:
OK, saw it again, and I'm dead certain it's the Focus replacement. So they are definitely working on a US version of the Mazda3/S40/Eurofocus platform. This time I got to get much closer, actually touching it briefly and I did some homework too.

Before I went, I looked at the British Ford site, at the Focus 4 saloon, and it's clearly that car with major sheetmetal changes, completely different face and rear treatment. Proportions are identical, but details and sheetmetal is all new. But tiny little things also link it to the current car.

I'm even more excited now than I was before. This is a really attractive car.

Guys, there were a ton of new Fords in the parking lot, including a current Focus with dealer plates and a brand new Montego (first I've seen) with dealer plates. A lot of the people in my focus group--3 of 8--drive a current focus. 1 Corolla driver, 1 Sentra driver, one Civic driver, a Pontiac Vibe, and something else.

It's a handsome, handsome car, very aggressive and masculine. It looks both hi-tech and also powerful, almost brutal in the front. Lots of well-executed chrome. and oh, the way they treated character lines, just exquisite. Some of the lines on this car were as nicely tailored as the original A6 that set Audi on its new styling course, the previous A6 to the new one. There is not one bad detail on this car.

The car we looked at was foam--I figure it out when I saw that the doorcuts were tape, not an actual panel gap. The glass was totaly opaque black. But all other details were real--real wheels and tires, real chrome, real headlight assemblies, real taillights, real chrome exhaust.

More details to come. Suffice it to say that the Ford fans in particular and the American car crowd in general should be very, very excited. It's much better than the Mazda3, a bit less cute in the greenhouse proportions than the S40 Sedan, and blows the current Civic, the current Corolla, and the Cobalt out of the water
Obviously it is wrong in some aspects... like the platform - the net seems to agree that C1 focus will never make it.
But otherwise there is NOTHING...
anyoe has found any info? Any rumors about show-reveal or anything?

As I posted in the thread (could yo uguess I am igor2 there) the silence makes me think of two possible scenarios:
1. a total fluke, and they are trying to cover it up (something like Nissan with Sentra)
2. a total bomb, that they want to take the wraps off with a big BOOM think 06 Civic...

Thanks ofr any comments / romors etc..

BTW even a rough scetch of a blurb would help

Thanks
Igor

^^ the pic on the first page of the FJ thread is the MK2 european Focus .. and it IS the same platform as the neww volvo S40/V50 and Mazda3.

I actually like the mocup on one ofthe futher pages, but that was a photoshop specualtion of how one ofthe European based "speialty' models would look like...

I avtually like that design .. it look fresh... but it is a fake.

we need to come up with a system... maybe a letter that one would print out sign and send to Ford...

If someone feels like it they can explore other options, but I am not sure how to create "petitions" online.

Igor..

I was just thinking about something. If they are worried about the reliability traps of adjusting the Euro Focus platform, why don't thye build the US focus on the Mazda3 platform. Apparently Mazda managed to adjust it well to US conditions, so it might be a better starting point than Euro Focus...

I think they are just such chickens about it...

according to this article new Focus will be 2008 model year....
hmmm... still not conclusive indication whether this is good or bad news...

Oh and ford is still determined to NOT bring C1 over the pond
