Cool TRACK: New personal best, with room for lots of improvment

Hey guys, just ran my tonite. I did a personal best after hotlapping 3 times right after getting of I-95... 15.774@87.7 w/ a 2.428 60'. My 1/8 was a 10.166@70.08. I have cut a 2.2 60' before with the tires I have on it now, but I am down 4/32nds of tread and these tires have too low of a profile to do any drag racing with them. I would feather the clutch out, nail it, and spin a little bit, shift into second and get more spin with massive torque steer. I bet with DRs on stock 15 in rims, a new clutch, and LSD, I could cut a 15.4 - 15.2 @ 89-91.

I have timeslips of some other runs if anyone wants me to post them. Right when I got to the track, I ran a 15.808@87.29 with a 2.334 60' shifting way too late (like 6300). This car is mean...

My tune is fairly aggressive, I am prolly in the 130-140 whp range. If I could have hooked up nice, with no wheel hop or spin, and got my 60' to a 2.0 or even a 1.9 I would have run mid - low 15s with a mph in the 90 range. I am barely tippin into 4th gear, which is the only way I can hit 90. I might be able to hit it in 3rd, but going past 6 grand is pointless if my powerband hasn't moved (which I don't for sure without a dyno). The main thing I need is some drag radials and a clutch, but I figure if I go ahead and do a clutch, I might as well to the LSD too...any of you know if 4.06s will be needed? I actually plan on putting a turbo on the little sewing machine motor after I build some funds up, and I read that 4.06s don't really help when you start going with lots of power.

Well, for right now, I think I am done with the performance mods. The next mods are upwards of 500 bucks, so that takes quite a hunk of change out of my pocket. If I had the money, I would do cams, cam gears, ported head, and I was thinking of the SVT intake manifold, but I might just do a ported early 2000 intake mani. I don't want to mill the head, because I will probably end up doing a turbo or a supercharger in the next few years, so I will need the stock compression, we will see. I need to work on the aesthetics of the car tho. I have busted up rims, a busted fender, I need to get those fixed. Other than that, the only NEEDED mods to be done to get my time where I want is clutch, LSD, and tires...
