Indeed that is fail. It looks just like my car when I got it too, less the fuel door.

I finished my LED third brake light. The wiring looks super ghetto so I didn't want to take any pics. I have to take it out sooner or later to solder in my voltage regulator anyway.

The plastic that surrounds the 5 5w5 bulbs is so warped it's not even funny lol.

Finished painting my European fuel door, lots more buffing and polishing to go. Sorry for the overabundance of pics, but I'm quite happy with the way things came out!

I used Duplicolor clear coat successfully this time around. There was a lot of orange peel, but I managed to sand it down enough without cutting all the way through the clear. I used my single speed buffer and 3M rubbing compound to get the gloss out. btw the compound was the only stuff I had laying around. The paint has swirls in it because of the compound, but now at least it'll match the swirls on my car's paint hahaha

Daaaaaamn that looks good! How did you get the duplicolor clear to come out properly?

And heres a pic of my third brakelight. You can kinda see the excessive amount of LEDs.

It took a LOT of elbow grease and patience to get the clear to come out the way it did! After I finished spraying on the last coat of clear, the clear actually looked pretty terrible. Some dish soap and 2000 grit sandpaper worked wonders in getting the orange peel flat.

I guess the secret to Duplicolor is you gotta spray on a lot of coats. I think I used 3/4 of the can already on this project alone!

And I like the 3rd brake! Complements the bright ass rear Fogs we have haha. Do you think the LED's inside would show through if you had a clear lense?

Hmm you mean the clear lens like you have or a completely clear one, like the aftermarket LED brakelights on ebay?

Here's a pic of my brakelights. Dunno if the LED 3rd brakelight made a difference, but this picture is badass, so I'll post it anyway hahaha

Oh and was your clear really hazy or was it clear when you were done spraying it?

Clear lense like mines haha. When I wired up my fogs last night, I tested my brakes and the 3rd brake didn't look as bright as yours! I'll bet the LED's did make a diff.

When I finished spraying my clear, it came out clear. I noticed when you spray it on too quickly it'll come out hazy, and if you go slow it starts to run. I think if you get the haze it CAN be buffed out imo, but it depends how many layers you put on after the haze layer.

Yeah I guess it did make a difference lol. I'll take a better pic of it after I solder in my 12v regulator. I'll nab some capacitors from school haha.

On another note, I scored an aluminum valve cover for free. I think I might paint it Duplicolor Teal or something.
