this is a great example of a retorical question, its only worth it if you feel it is. like some are saying, "what if"... you cant weigh your satisfaction of a great mod install, with the money it costs over a long period of time, its just the fun of accomplishment. the ability to change your car into something else. you wont see it being driven by anyone else. so yes and no...after all that.

I couldn't agree more, you can't have 20+ pages of responses to a question that has an actual answer. Only opinion threads can achieve this.

you bet!

(well, depends on what you're into) Some people think mods are a waste of time and money. Car customization can be a hobby, a lifestyle, a job, even an obsession. But if it makes you happy, then thats all that matters. Not everyone that sees your mods will like them or think they are worth it. I grew up in a car family, in the motor city, so anything goes for me. I think everything should be modd. I have modded brand new cars before I even got them home! Mod away!

Quite agree, jasper46. My extensively modded '84 BMW R100RT is testament to my attitude in the matter. However, "de gustibus non est disputandum." Those ol' Latin maxims do lay it on the line.

I think it's worth it if you like to work on cars and want something to do.. But practicality/money wise I don't think it's worth it. The extra money could be spent on a better car with way better specs.

No, it is not worth it. I just like spending money on my car constantly to make it look ugly and have people sneer at me as I drive by them. Oh shoot, snap me out of my daze here. Hell yeah it's worth it. It is just like any other hobby out there, as long as you enjoy it and you aren't doing any harm to anyone else what is wrong with it? It's your money and your spending it how you want to. It's not like your hobby affects anyone but yourself. But if you put of paying on a bill to buy something for your car then there is something wrong with that of course. Who needs a house when you can have a turbo right?

Its a hobby. If you are happy with what your doing with your money at the time, be happy and enjoy the moments. Maybe later in life when you are hard on cash and think about all the money you spent on modding the car, and how bad you need it at that moment, just think how happy you felt and how much you enjoyed working on the car. If modding is not worth it to you, your not a car guy or girl. You need to find something else to do. Modding is not an investment its a lifestyle.

It would seem that the people (myself included) who have said modding is not worth it are referring more to performance mods, AKA bang for the buck! Cosmetic mods are all about what makes you happy.

I still think performance gains on a focus are WAY to expensive. I guess it's a case of go hard or go home if you want to up performance on a focus. (My old eclipse spoiled me, it was way too cheap and easy to add 100 HP to one of those!!)
