I think its not worth it. Focuses have enough problems as it is..why add to the potential list of repairs. I haven't had time to mod my focus because I have been too busy repairing it.

good therapy

Well I think its wourth it because it is good therapy for me mentally, why pay a shrink when you can get the same affect moden your focus plus it gives it that look all of its own and not only that ford dont build it to my specs anyway.

not worth it on a focus or any compact commuter car, now muscle cars, that's a differetnt story. I have my focus for one purpose, to drive 90 miles back and forth to work each day.

for performance mods i dont think its worth it because you will continue to pour money into something that wont be your every day car

but for cosmetic mods im all for it
your using your car alot... you need to make it personal... be it your rims, your body, paint job, whatever..

I think it depends on the situation. If you buy your car below book, with low miles and don't over spend to the point that it's a total loss when you sell, it's worth it. If its a car you plan on keeping until you run it into the ground, sure it's worth it.

If you over spent and got a bad deal anyways, to dump more money on a car you don't plan on keeping indefinately, it's not worth it.

It all depends on what you want to get back out of the car in the end and your personal situation.

first, i have been modding my car since i got it. it was pure stock and ive built it up and tore it apart in every way. my next jump is to put the wide body kit on it and change up the engine to the v8 5.0 swap kit. as of this day i have more than 30,000 sunk into it and im not done by far. i have to wait until august to do the engine swap because thats when my extended warranty runs out. and if anyone questions my spendature i have a ton of pics that can show everything done.

Wow, this thread is old yet it comes up EVERY DAY!

Anyway, NO, not on the focus I don't think. I can't see spending 1500 on the engine and getting 7 hp. Now on something like a Mazdaspeed3, that would be different. I'd gladly spend 1500 on that motor.....yum

I think its worth it. Its the feeling that you get when accomplishing something yourself and than the joy and rush you get when driving the newly modded car.
