Left Front Tire Rubbing

I have just replaced my stock Continentals with 4 brand new 205/40/ZR17 Toyo Proxes FZ4 tires because I had a flat tire. This wasn't just an ordinary flat though. It was caused from the left fron rubbing on the bottom of the splash guard that had come loose. So on the inside of the tire there was about a half inch of steel sticking out all the way around the tire. I had taken it to the dealership complaining of a rubbing noise when I turned right, and they had told me about the splash guard rubbing and that they had fixed it. They had failed to mention that the tire was completely screwed up and needed replaced. So when I did discover this problem one day after work when my tire was flat. I was really pissed and I called them and asked them 1.) Why the hell didn't you tell me about my tire? 2.) Since it is the cars fault the tire is screwed, and it is under warranty, why can't you replace my tire. Their reply was, we do not warranty tires at all, you will have to talk to Continental about that. What do you all think about this? If the car is under warranty and something defective causes the tire to malfunction....do you think that the new car warranty should cover it?
