Question in my ford focus 2004 automatic....is ther any way to turn off the day running lights

in my ford focus 2004 automatic....is ther any way to turn off the day running lights and use the wipers....like when i go to the drive in and there is just a little rain.....to put my wipers on when the car is stopped...i have to turn the key to the second position and the headlights come on .....on a lot of ford models putting on the hand brake cancels out the lights.....what is the problem on the ford focus......thanking you in advance for any help you can give me!!!!!!!!!.....bob

blame your government for requiring DRL. It has been proven that it does nothing to prevent accidents. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you about disarming the DRL feature, other than puting a manual switch in the system so that you can turn them off when you want. But if you forget to turn them on you may get a fine from the RCMP lol

There are answers all over the place on the board..

but it boils down to yanking out the relay in position R12 in the fusebox. Probably need a pair of pliers, its in there pretty tight.

LOL, actually there is tons of evidence to the contrary, I worked in vehicle standards for a year, but I would be interested in seeing this evidence.
