is this normal?

Tonite on my way home i was driving her really hard, lets just say i was owning the back roads tonight, well when i got home i opened the door and notice a burning smell and it kinda scared me, the oil pressure and oil temp were at normal (i watch them religously) and the coolant gauge was normal so i popped the hood and got real close to smell by the valve cover and it smelt like it was cooking. any takers on this one?

and the other day i got out of my car and didnt cut it off cuz i want to hear my new exhaust and i put my hand in front of it and it was so hot i couldnt hold my hand there and it was a good foot to foot and half away from the exhaust, are the exhaust gasses supposed to be that hot? i wasnt even running that hard that day.

overheated the head, and started melting the plastic? just a guess, check to see if the head is smooth, if so, you melted the black coating

Is it an oil leak from the valve cover gasket? Mine is "weeping" a little oil in that area.

Not an SVT, but mine does that too sometimes.

I will be sitting at a light after running hard and I will detect a slight burning oil smell. No CEL, no warning lights and no detectable oil leaks. It's freakin' me out though.

i'm thinking it's burning oil, nothing to worry about i think. i'm sure you won't even be able to see anything becasue by the time you smell it it's already burnt off.
