Thumbs up SWMS October 1&2, 2005 Albuquerque School, Race, Lapping

Intereted in Road Racing or track days? October 1 & 2, 2005 is SouthWest MotorSport, NM's premier road race club's last event of the year. Most SWMS events include a high perf. driving school for inexperienced track day drivers and those who need a referesher. Most SWMS events include on track groups for: students, lappers, and open wheel, contemporary, vintage race cars.

School is on Saturday. Gives drivers about 1 hour of track time and 3 hours of classroom instruction. SWMS school is nearly unique in that we utilize instructors from several local clubs: SCCA, SWMS, PCA, and BMWCC and the instructor will ride with you giving real time feedback for as many sessions as you'd like. The club is picky about safe driving styles. That means paint exchanges and meetings with immovable objects are seriously frowned upon and are dealt with by visits with the chief steward and/or dis invites.

Cost of SWMS event for 1 day is $125 if registered by 9/16, $140 after. For both days, $195 and $225. Cost of school is included above (that is the best value in USA!). SWMS events always have fire and safety people, ambulance, corner workers, flagging, and race control to assure the safest possible operation of events. First timers do not need a membership. Subsequent attendees need to be paid members ($35 a year). Volunteer to work a 2 day event for a fully paid membership for 1 year.

Spectators, workers, students, drivers, and sponsors are always welcome and invited. Some say, the best seat in the house is a corner station. We'll pair new volunteers with experienced workers until you get the hang of the event. Workers also get membership and banquet bucks to pay for attending the annual and awards banquet (January).

You will have fun! You will learn about you and your cars limits and abilities. Imagine, 50 miles of high speed driving, 500 turns, 500 mini drag races, 500 brake tests, 60 minutes of heart and lung exercise. Beat the heck out of running!

This sounds like fun.

My birthday is the 17th of Oct... methinks I see an early present.
