Window Tint - Should I?

I'm looking to tint my windows and actually would like to do it myself. I see it done all the time on those car shows and it looks easy, but yes, I know, it's tv, they're pros, and it's not as easy as it looks. I think I might try it, but am still undecided. Check my local laws online and it says:

Q: What are the New Jersey tint laws?
A: Basic tint laws for New Jersey are as follow:
No after market tint may be applied to front driver and passenger windows. After market tint on rear windows may not cover the 3rd brake light. Windshields may only be tinted 20% down from the top to help avoid sun glare. No mirror tint allowed anywhere on the vehicle.

Of course u should. My locale doesnt allow tint on the front windows either, but i did anyway.
I got 50% in the front and 35% in the back. If u think u can do it urself, then give it a shot. but, if a pro does it, u know it will look perfect.

Where'd you get that info? According to

Tintdude.com it states NO tint is allowed on the windshield..

This is for NJ, not for CT. As for that, most windshields I thought you could have vinyl or tint at the top but it couldn't pass the one notch looking thing on the window.

On TintDude it says "NO" under Visor for NJ. Any% on the rears and NO for the fronts. Not sure if it or your source is more accurate. Best way to find out would probably be asking a tint shop, they know the law for sure because good ones have you sign a disclaimer saying they're not responsible if you request an illegal film, and get caught with it.

I wouldn't DIY, I've heard especially the rear Focus window is a PITA to get right, it's curved or something? Tint shops and good pros can get the tint on in one seamless piece but I've heard it's a bear to do as a novice.

Plus you want to buy quality film, not Walmart/AutoZone stuff. You can try it, and if you don't like it then pay to have it done, but then you're paying twice for materials and twice for labor, once in your wasted time and once in $. My opinion, take it or leave it.

Mine was directly from the DMV for NJ. More accurate than tintdude might I add.

talks about tint
search button is sweet!!!!!
and ask anyone on here. 5% is [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] sweet looking!!
also if you have it done professionally you must ask them if they do all windows with 1 piece. do not take your car to a place where they do 1 window with multiple pieces.

Don't assume people haven't used the search button, because I did. :)

I merely posted because I wanted to find out how easy it is, or if someone has done it and it would be nice for a how to for it as well. Might go professional though.

its going to be a pita if you dont really know what your doing. Yes the steps seem easy on paper but when u actually do it, your going to pop a few vains lol. If this is your first time its not going to come out as good as it can obviously, not to mention its going to probably take you all day, unless your like born to tint. Its not going to come out as perfect as it will at good shops. So my advice would be, dont go cheap, go to a place that does window tinting, that is good and get quotes and pay them to do it.
