Silverstars = bad quality

I installed the Syvania Silverstars in my car 5 months ago and both of them blew out this week. You would figure for the price, they would last a little longer.

I replaced them with the Sylvania Cool Blue's. Not as bright as the Silverstars, but better than other OEM replacements. I do not see any hint off blue (if you are supposed to).

What opinion does anyone else have of either of these lights?

Had silverstars on my wifes expedition for two years, no problems. Still have the OEM on my Focus, spending the money on other mods.

Silverstars are usually ok bulbs, should last at least 1-2 years under normal use.

I got mine a few months ago, no problems of any sort. I kept the OEMs just in case they crap out. Do you drive with your headlights on in the daytime, or have Daytime Running Lamps? This will contribute _greatly_ to bulb wear.

i have the cool blues. I dont think you are really supposed to see any blue off them, but i find when its really cold out, and the exhaust seems to hang in the air a little longer, when i back out of the driveway and end up backin through the exhaust, you can see the blue reflected off the particles in the air... same when its foggy out... it's kinda cool. only had them in for about a month now, hopefully they'll last.

keep the stock bulbs in. i had hyper white bulbs in my car for the longest time until i tried to change them the other day and noticed they melted the plastic plug that you put the bulb in.

Just yesterday while purchasing bulbs, I was told by a salesperson that the silverstars are not worth the dough and that they do blow out in a few months. So I went with the Halogen Extra Visions.

I do drive with my lights on alot. It is dark when I leave for work in the morning, and dark out on my way home at night. I was looking at the Halogen Extra Visions but the did not have them in 9003 at Wal Mart. I had to pick up something quick because both lights were out. I will look into Xenon Bulbs next time or for the hell of it. Maybe I will just save up and buy projectors. Speaking of which, If you buy projectors or any other aftermarket headlight for that matter, do they come with the bulbs?

Well, is you ask the guys at Hoen they do have some 9003. Its the H4 (aka 9003) and its a 60/55w. They do not have it posted, I just asked and they said they have it so I ordered them. I installed them in the 4Runner this weekend and they are awesome.
