Where to run power wire?

Sup everyone.
trying to run a 6gauge or 4 gauge wire to my power inverter from the battery, but I cant find anywhere to get through the firewall. I have an SVTF so I cant run it through the clutch cable port and I havent really found any articles showing where to run anything.
Any info will be appreciated.

You can drill a small hole through the wall and run it through if you want.
We've done that before. It works.

There's also a way to route it over the driver's fender and into the A pillar or below to anywhere else inside the cabin if need be.

Yup..there's an unused grommet in the driver's door. It's hard to see, but it's there and suitable for a power wire.

thats the wrong way to wire an amp. any shop who would wire your car like that are idiots. yes i know that it is easier to do it that way b/c u dont have to drill bu t the correct way to do it is through the fire wall. if u run it that way the wire is exposed to the elements and can get short circuited if it gets grounded some how.

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...light=amp+wire
theres some info. if u search a little more u should find pics of where people drilled. imo u should do it right the first time so u dont have to go back and do it again :p

How is this setup any more exposing the power wire to the "elements" than running it through the firewall? First of all, the wiring is covered with rubber/plastic, protecting it anyway. Secondly, even running it through the firewall it would get exposed to water and dirt in the engine bay, so I don't see how running it through the door grommet is a bad idea.

Ah, even if it wrong my wiring isn't to an amp anyway. I wasn't aware if there was a more direct/better way, but thought I'd throw that out there.

Normally, On other cars, this would be a major problem because they have sharp metal edges underneath the fenders... This cuts through the jackets and grounds the wire, shorting the circuit... blowing fuses etc...

However, With practically all models of the focus, and even mustangs... running a power-wire through the fender and thru the door grommet poses very little hazard if done correctly. There is plenty of room to cover the wire with wire-loom and still shove it underneath or in between the fender.
