Moved ya to the Mk1 sections since your asking about body mods and not performance mods

If you are wanting to fit a true euro rear to a mk1 SVT or zx3/5 you have 2 options. 1)Get a euro rear bumper with euro crash bar and then take off your your stock bumper and crash bar and bolt the euros up. Just a slight trim may be needed with a grinder for final fit. 2) If you have euro bumper but NO euro crash bar you would need to remove bumper foam that goes over stock crash bar then you would need to cut the stock crash bar with an angle grinder on both sides so that the bumper will sit correctly. Those are your options in a nut shell.

I believe you need to cut off a bolt on each side when putting a euro crash bar on a US spec car. ones very in the way but I believe the other set of holes line up

The bumper will sag and flex if there's nothing behind it, id suggest the euro bar and foam

Sounds about right....some minor trimming. If you trim stock crash bar correctly it will support the bumper just fine. Have seen it done on several cars. Of course this is in case you can't get a rear euro crash bar since they are hard to come by.

If you do the method in the third link you can fill the gaps made when cutting the crash bar with the original foam so those rough edges don't actually rub against the inside of the bumper. Or you can get some closed cell mini foam to fill those gaps instead.

I'm gonna have to figure that modificz tion to the stock bar my-damn-self... I just have mine mounted up with nothing under it. I haven't been able to drive it around due to a wheel bearing and brake issue; so I haven't noticed any sagging or ill-fitment issues yet.

Good thread, all!
