Not like I'm an overly enviromentally concious person but I did decide to not run the ORP daily. For me it just sounded too assy with the stock exhaust and the fumes were insane. I drive everywhere with my windows down so at a stop light and with having rear windows that roll down I get a good amount of fumage coming in the car. Now for track days and other "special" events I'll throw the pipe on, it switches out quick and easy so no issues.
I'd love to hear the ORP / Borla combo on some high quality audio but it's really a moot point because I've made up my mind to go R/T high flow & Borla when I get home, keep the ORP for race day

wow... all I'm gonna say is I'm glad I live in FL... we dont have emissions laws... half the cars around town are basically running straght pipe... like today coming out from getting food there was a guy in an integra with no muffler or anything... you can look under his car and see where the piping had been cut.. he pulled out and drove by a cop and the cop did nothing... was one of the loudest nastiest sounds I have ever heard...

Even without emissions, most locales still have noise pollution ordinances. Not that police carry around decibel meeters with them all the time or anything but if they want to give you trouble for your ORP, they can use that as well. Especially late at night...

Hey, I'm just saying that $170 and 2 hp is cheap insurance and you don't have to worry about it passing.

And I don't care what the test says - if you get a tech who has tested more than a couple dozen cars, he's gonna smell that exhaust and he'll know.

Also, environmental concerns and fines are not the only reason not to run an ORP - you think anyone has ever had engine warranty work denied because of running one? People worry all the time about being denied because they have a short ram on or a TB, but that's just replacing the factory model of those items with aftermarket ones. When you remove the cat, that's an interacting component that's taken out of the system, along with the O2 sensor and its feedback to OBDII.

You can burn exhaust valves and have detonation issues because of lower back pressure - or at least the dealer can say you do. The O2 sensor is removed, so they'll point to that all day.

In addition to outright denying warranty coverage, they can say that as long as you have the ORP on and no O2 sensor, they can't make it run correctly, so your warranty is in force, they just are absolved of making the car run right. Think about it.

We don't drive race cars, nor should we try to unless it's on the track. Besides, if we don't start worrying now, who will? If we take that route, we'll be just as bad as the "government we got representing us" by not accepting that we did something wrong and try to fix it. Stop adding to the problem and put on a damn hi flow. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. End of story.

There is no need for you to have an ORP to drive around city streets. That's exactly why it's called OFF ROAD pipe. If you drive while putting out such horrible emissions, what stops the next person from doing it and then soon too many people are doing it. Ever hear of the Greenhouse effect?

Saying who cares about emissions because you'll die before a dirty planet kills you has to be one of the most selfish things I've heard on this site. One day if you have children, should you not care about their lives because you wanted to sound louder with your damn car? I'm sorry, future lives aren't worth 2-3 hp.

my cat is hollowed out... and i have a muffler on it... not sure what kind but its on there... sounds good till u hit the 6700+ area haha...
but it's deep and sounds better than those freaking hondas

anyone care to explain a bit of the argument?

exactly what ARE off road pipes, as opposed to hi flow, and whats wrong with short ram intakes?

an off-road pipe is just what It says it is... It's a Pipe designed to replace your Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM) Catalytitic convertor, for OFF-ROAD purposes (i.e. auto-cross or drag-strip)

Hi-flow cat's can be used on older car's that have over 100,000 Miles, otherwise a high-flow cat on a newer pzev vehicle is illegal in some states.

Check your local law's before modifying your car... Or if you have been pulled over before for modifying you car and you live in a strict state... you might not want to modify anything related to emissions.

On a positive Note about how much the newer pzev models rock... I found this article to be quite interesting.

oh, alright. i live in florida, no emissions laws here, and i was going to pick up a short ram intake, dont see the need for a hi flow.
