I wouldn't like one of those in my car.
I like that thing called "free will"... speeding is just wrong, but I have the right to decide wether to speed or not.

If you read closely, it states that the mechanism kicks in when you are "significantly" speeding. I don't know their interpretation of the word significantly, but I would think that the bulk of, at least mine, our speeding would still be "acceptable" according the the programming. Yeah, it still blows, but what can you do when fascism is spreading throughout the world?

The agency is also testing another system that warns drivers with a voice alarm and a light whenever they start to speed, the newspaper said.
A feature found on an '85 Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno.

(okay, its a buzzer and not a voice. close enough)

Even if you "fix" it, though, when a cop pulls you over he can say you were warned that you were speeding, with or without the system, and give you a ticket on the spot. There's not much of a chance for warnings. That's what a lot of the cops have been known to do around here if you have a radar detector. The "you already got warned" thing.
