Thats really an open question depending on the compression ratio of the engine will totaly depend on your boost levels.

For example (a master/legend in the SPI world or atleast mine :) ) Jeffescortlx is running a 1.9l block with stock interntals (1.9l was early 90's escort engine) with the 2.0l SPI head, in the esort world its usualy refired to as the 1.9l SPI hybrid. With that setup is dramatically lowers the compression and I've seen it handle up to 20 psi.

A stock SPI with stock compression I've seen it handle 10 spi really well.

So again its just a matter of what compression and setup your running.

I've already posted this but here is a good read on SPI/Escort turboing, it will really help in learning a few things about boosting and can be applied to the SPI focus: http://www.feoa.net/modules.php?name...ewtopic&t=7266

i mean i want to turbo my spi, i accept that the tranny is deficent(gonna replace with a lentech auto, yes i know i'm following WB, bbbbbut he is teh shizzle!) but i really don't know how to do that necessary things like lower compression rates, heck i don't even know how to get the trannys cooler downpipes and all that other techno babbalicous stuff

Take a read on that link I posted above, spend some time in the Forced Induction forums. all that will give you an idea of what you need to do.

Here is a list of parts needed: http://homepage.duluthmn.com/~umdivx...rts%20list.htm

here is my rought guess at the costs: http://homepage.duluthmn.com/~umdivx...ice%20list.htm

really the compression is really not needed, just dont over boost and you'll be fine.

did you read that link i posted yet? it explaines all of it in there. if you run an engine with lower compression you can run more boost, and depending on you turbo you can get more power, but if you have a the same turbo running on an engine with higher compression you will get more power, but higher compression, more boost, means an incressed opportunity to detination which if you dont know is bad.

So you many like to run lower compression, which allows you to run a milder tune, decreases chances of detination, and still allows for optimal performance.

its honestly all what you want to do and what hp levels you want to hit, but anyways read that link, see what they have to say and then go from there.

possibly but whats the point? Twin turboing is really only good for V6's and V8's where you have two sepereate exaust manifolds.

I've seen some twin turbo'd 4 cyl, also I've seen some supercharged and turbo'd at the same time, on the SC/Turbo setup the SC is a roots blower and his instant boost, the SC gets the car up to a decent RPM and speed then the turbo kicks in and does the rest.

a twin turbo setup would be nice as you can run two smaller quicker spooling turbos say get two smaller ones that run 4 to 5 psi each and that would get you the max 8 - 10 psi on stock internals, the seutp would be a unique setup one of which I havn't yet seen on a focus.

honestly I'd stick with a turbo that has a good comprimise of quick spooling and high flow, flow is actually better than max boost, if you can find a turbo that can spool up quickly and can flow a larger volume of air you'd have the ultiamte setup.

do you have any recommendations? from your stand point(just to help out the low end seriously) would it be worth it to TC and SC ?

honestly i'd stick with a single turbo, the T3/T4 hybrid like Mutlee is running is a great turbo that spools up really quick and can't throw ungodly amounts of boost at an engine.
