My near future SPI performance plan...What do u think??

from reading all of the threads from you guys...I've learned so much in the past two days....you guys sound like u know what ur talkin about...so thanks!!... anyway im planning to go with the MBRP catback exhaust system (Cant beat 200 bucks). I looked into a throttle body spacer and I found one on ebay for about 75 bucks. It is suppossed to deliver up to 22 hp gains...its called the helix power tower plus..idk if anyone has heard of it....I might hold off on the SCT chip because i might not have 300 bucks to spare...but what do u guys think so far??

Forget that crap.

Those things are supposed to basically create smooth vortices to put the air into the head more smoothly. BUT, our intake manifolds are so [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]**ed up that it can't/won't help at all.

Seriously, if you REALLY want to try something like that, find a local machine shop and give them the specs you want them to match. But I wouldn't bother.

Stick with the SCT, it's the bomb-diggety.

MBRP - got one, love it... the SPI sounds mean with it and a CAI / short ram intake.

That Helixmonkeylicker whoosawhutsit. Ditch it.

The SCT is a good idea, but go either multi-tune or just XCal 1/2. As you mod you're going to want to re-flash to take advantage of new gains (TB, UDP, PnP, etc).

Exaust & Chip-- Good Idea!

Spacer-- Bad Idea, that will do nothing but waste $75. TB spacers are useless on our cars, or any other fuel injected cars. Now if you put a spacer on a carborated car you will see SOME gains, no where near 22hp. Ebay is a performance hoax, unless its namebrand dont buy from ebay and even then be careful.

The only thing that would be remotely good for the TB spaceer is to tap into it for N2o injection, other than that its a POS.

basic bolt ons you'd want:

- Cat Back exuast, MBRP for $200 you can't beat it.
- 60mm Black Diamond Racing TB
- 25% or 50% under drive pully
- Tin Maddog's specal 2.5" flex pipe
- CAI or SRI
- SCT chip (really the chip is only good for the dumb ppl who have auto's :) other than that the chip is good for tuning when you go turbo)
- SD coil pack and live wires

thats about all i can think of for basic bolt ons right now, look at the stickies at the top of the page for the goodies list, will help you out imensly.

hope this helps,
Josh

Don't waste your money on any SPI upgrades. Just make a show car cuz you're never going to be quit, even with a turbo
