Help!!! Stranded in Flagstaff

This story would be really funny if it weren't true.

Left for road trip on Thursday, going from Orange County to AZ to look at ranch property for sale.

Car was running super strong, til Saturday. I was on I-40 west on my way home, between Winslow and Flagstaff,

driving thru a FREAK ELECTRICAL STORM - MONSOON, lightning was all around me , but I kept driving thinking I was safe.

Had the radio on, lights on, stereo on (have 1000 watt amp), defroster on.
In other words, using TONS of electricity.

All the sudden my stereo turns off by itself. WTF? I said. Turned it back on, it came back on. Went off again. WTMFF???

Then my speedo and tach went to zero, elec windows and sunroof not working.

Lights on dash going crazy. Car was still running but it felt weird.

Went for another 10 minutes and engine died. Pulled over to shoulder.

Disconnected neg batt cable and waited a minute for computer to flush.

Connected cable and tried motor....STARTED!

I'm thinking this elec storm is messing with my car big time! I don't know what else to think. I've got a brand new motor for christ sake!

So I go for another 10 miles or so, and the same thing happens, electrical goes haywire and engine dies.

Couldn't get car started again, so called AAA and got a tow to Flagstaff.
$72 bucks for that. Dropped me off at a garage right next to a Super 8 motel.

They are normally open on Sunday, but they're closed today for inventory!

They have DSL here @ hotel so I'm on the net with my laptop, posting this.

Any ideas??? I messed with it for a couple hours this morning and can't get it started. Multimeter read 11 volts on battery. Flashed normal program back to computer with my SCT. Flash worked fine with no errors. (so I'm figuring computer might b OK)

Took pos and neg cables off battery and waited a few minutes.

The MFer won't start!!!

Should I try jumping it??? I have cables. From what I've read on here about alternators, it sounds like that could be it. I have a new long block installed a month ago, do they put the old accessories on it from the orig motor???
The alternator, ac compressor, ps pump, etc. I was thinking they were new too....maybe not...

I guess I'm having it towed tomorrow morning to Ford dealer here in Flagstaff. I'd like to resolve this myself if I can....

HELP GUYS - GALS!!!

Sorry to here that your not having any luck out there. Have you checked all of your fuses? In car and in the engine bay. I don't know about the Focus, but most cars have a main fuse, looks like a relay. I popped one in a Festiva years ago by jumping it backwards. Try checking those. Hope your luck get better. BTW, does the car try to start or is all electrical gone?

Checked all fuses in engine bay. Didn't check ones inside car. I'll go check those now.

When I turn key, I hear loud mechanical clicking sound from engine. Starter is not turning.

How do you check those big fat ones, in the engine bay??? Can't pull them out.
Not the relays, the ones that say 40 and 20 on the top.

I was able to pull the big fuses out with needle-nosers. They're fine.

(Keep a good amount of tools in car. Been Ford owner a long time )

Don't think inside fuses make any diff, but checked 46 and 61, OK.

ANYBODY LIVE IN FLAGSTAFF???

I'LL BUY YOU DINNER FOR SOME HELP!!!

Try getting a new battery...if that doesn't fix the problem you can always return it. Any auto parts place nearby that you can pick one up?

Moving this to technical chat so you can get more views.

Thanx for all the suggestions peeps.

I'm done messing with it. It won't cost anything to have AAA tow it to Ford shop tom morning.

I'll let Ford fix it. Hopefully they're SVT savvy, and it's a warranty repair.

Going to try to enjoy Flagstaff.

Getting a 40 oz Coors lite, carton of Marb reds, and a hot hooker.

(while still thinking about car in the back of my mind)

"got a tow to Flagstaff.
$72 bucks for that. "

I though Ford all came with a three year auto srvice that gave free towing to the nearest Ford dealer?

Is this something only on the 2005 models? Or did I misunderstand something when they told me about it when I purchased the car?
