paint colour codes

Hi everyone

First time post here...hope you can help.

I have a Focus [first reg. April 2002] and its colour is described in the paperwork as "metropolis blue". Its metallic.

Trouble is I need to find out what the colour code is before I can go buy some spray paint to do minor bodywork repairs. I can't find the plate on the car anywhere and I've looked everywhere...under the bonnet, in the boot, door panels, uprights between the door. Everywhere.

Does anyone know the official colour code of this paint and/or know where I can get some?

I am in South London.

Grateful for all the advice. I've not got much hair left to pull out after all this...!

MM

Well the colour code should be a two-character code from Ford and it should be located on the driver-side door where the latch mechanism is. You should be able to see it when you open the door on a little squarish information thing...

If you manage to find the colour code, try the following webpage to see if a paint shop can take your Ford colour code and mix you up some cans.

Cheers!

Probably just a different name for the same paint color as the blue they used on the 02 focus here in North America, just named different in the UK. Ford is known for renaming the exactly same paint color (same paint code) in different models/years.

Yeah, I believe the 2005 "infra-red" non-metallic red is the same color as the prior years, but with a new name.

Ford part # for aerosol spraycan is, 1311135. Your paint code should begin with A and is located on the vin plate, it's in the small box's on the left-hand side the second small box up from the bottom under your bonnet.

You'll notice in this pic of the VIN plate that the paint code is A1. A=Metropolis Blue, and 1=the year of the car.

Thanks everyone. I'll check out these ideas. And thanks Sting2324...The car is out on the road at the moment (the wife has it with the kids to go see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory!!) so I can't check the VIN plate till they get back.

I'll let you know how it goes.
