Hi, i have just purchased an focus 1.6 zetec estate, on tick over the car is uneven and makes the car feel like its shaking slightly and continues when you drive also there is a slight whirring on acceleration. i have no experience of these cars and wondered is this normal for these automatics? many thanks

The engine seems to run a little uneven and makes the car feel like it is shaking slightly and continues to do so while driving, also there is a little bit of whirring on acceleration, is this normal for an automatic? if anyone could shed some light on this i would be very gratefull, many thanks.

Welcome to FF. The whirring sound could be a sign of the power steering pump going out, but no way for Me to know for sure. As for the shaking, it could be a motor mount is gone bad. Hopefully someone who knows more than I will pop in shortly.

Yea that was going to be my first guess too. Power steering pump as winning but it could come from other, open the hood with it running and listen, As for the shaking, it's probly the passenger motor mount.
