don't see any reason that wouldn't be ok? just less rubber, and might make your car look a little more undropped..

Well the pretty much standard size for 16" wheels on a Foci is a 205/50/16. Right now you are a bit over what is spec. I don't see any reason they wouldn't put on a tire that was a bit smaller than spec as well.

i've heard of some places that won't put a tire on if it's not the OEM tire.
so those places don't get my business :) go somewhere that will, it won't hurt your car at all.

It's a load rating issue. They (the retailers) can't go below the load rating required for the car. See what the load rating for a 205/50-16 is and if the 205/45 is equal or more you're OK.

Geezer got it right, but why do you want to go for a lower aspect ratio?

205-50-16 should cost less they are more common. The ride will be rougher with a shoter sidewall.

If the shop doesn't want to mount them find a better shop.

Some shops don't like mounting 50's and below because they are harder to mount.
