That was Great! I'm really wanting to try out AutoX, looks like alot of fun. Was your time on that run one of the best for the day? Just wondering.

do ya have vid. of your 5 th. run? that was your fastest i believe..1:30.somethin..wow!!
that put ya around 1st. or 2nd in class i think, beat that SHH by like 1/2 a sec...damn fine
i got some serious catching up to do.( 1:37.698)!!
I got vids of all 6 runs.
But you're right, #5 was my fastest clean run at 1:30.635
The SH ended up with a 1:30.4XX.
The 6th run was my fastest overall.....excepting the 2 second cone penalty.
1:31.642 with the penalty, so my actual time was a 1:29.642.
You can plainly see which cone I hit in the video...right out of the gate.
I was bummin'.

See above comments.
IIRC, FTD (Fast Time of Day) was a high 1:24 something....more than likely one of the CRX's with major mods and engine swap.

Update:
You'll all be happy.
I found some rubber bar-end plugs that fit perfectly in the ends of the tube.
No more pointy thingy headed for my neck!

Now, to rig up a strap from the camera to the bar per SCCA rules.
Then, I'm set.

Cool mount! I drew up something very similar. A fish wide angle lense would be much nice for getting views on the right and left. My plan was to make a mount for the back seet headrests and remove the middle headreast and that is where the camera would be mounted. We shall see, i am trying to have it done for this weekends auto-x. Very sweet vids, my auto-x is on a smaller parking lot so it is all twisties, top speed 40-50 mph in short bursts. Good times!

What does this mean? Please show picture when you're done. I'm very interested in this. Maybe a how-to?

You have motivated me to build my own. I'll post my vids on Monday if everything works out...

You should have a strap from the camera to the mount itself.
If the camera should come loose, it should also be secured so it doesn't fly around in the car and become a deadly projectile.

Wow, I've been told a few times that the SCCA rules require it, but after searching the whole document, this is all I found:
Quote:
B. Inspection Requirements
1) All loose items, inside and outside the car, must be removed.
Passengerís seat back and squab shall be secured.
Video cameras must be securely mounted if installed.
Along with the Mountain Bike bar end plugs, I should be able to adapt an old toe strap to use as a safety strap.
Might as well get some of my MTB "mojo" in the fOCUS.

You have motivated me to build my own. I'll post my vids on Monday if everything works out...
^^^^^^
Lucky you!
My next event isn't till August 20th - 21st.
I'm bummin' big time.

Here's a picture of "Prototype B". Our first attempt kept breaking because we started with a big drill bit and it would pull the PVC apart. On the 2nd attempt, I used a relatively small bit, went slow, and then bored out the holes with a Dremel. Cut some plywood to serve as a platform, wood screwed it into the pipe to keep it from spinning around on the bolt, and then used 2 linked zip ties to secure the camera to the platform. (had to use a vise-grip to get the zip-tie tight einough)

It's very very tight and secure, and we tested it in a local parking lot. I'd post that too but I need to get a Firewire cord to download it into my computer...

Here's a pic at least. $5.20 and 30 minutes...
