My McNews Trip

I had been stock piling several mods over the last year and finally had enough saved up to make a trip out to McNews for the installs. I had the following stuff installed:

2000 Intake Mani
Esslinger Cam Gears
VF Lower Motor Mount
FR Stg II Cams
FC 65mm TB

Once all this was installed I drove around for a day to make sure everything was installed well. I was a little amazed that after the installed the car started on the first try and had no running issues. Ray did an amazing job. He had all the parts installed in 2 days basically. We just had to wait for 1 bucket size to come in for the cam install. Once we were satisfied that the parts were all settled we put the Focus on the dyno and tuned the chip and gears. At the end we settled for 127 WHP and 125 TRQ.

I was amazed at the new power the car had. On the wet Pennsylvania roads I was getting wheel spin on the shift from 1st to 2nd and my car is an automatic. I was especially thrilled with the Stg II cams. These cams pull hard all the way up to 6500 RPMs which is something I was shooting for. Having a raised rev limiter with the chip without cams is almost pointless.

The entire trip was amazing. Ray got the car tore down, put back together, and tuned in 4 days. The car started on the first try. I drove the car home 1,800 miles and never a hickup. I cannot give Ray and McNews enough praise. These guys really know what they are doing. I was staying in a hotel in town and all the guys at McNews had no problems with me comming out to the garage and hanging out with them all day. I never for a second felt like I was in the way. I was greeted with a big smile every morning by Bobby, Ray, and Nick. If I had a chance to do it all over again I wouldn't change a single thing. Thanks McNews, you guys ROCK!

wow...that's one hell of a trip...I know cuz I've done it! (San Diego to Cleveland, twice)

Which way did you go? One time, I went the southern route (I-10 and I-8) and the next, I did a more northern approach...I think it was I-70.

Holy crap you guys aren't kidding about that trip. I am spoiled since I only live an hour away from McNews but now I don't have a Ford product to take there!!! When I get another stang though I am sure to head down there again.

Congrats we have to represent for the autos. I love my FR II's also. I can relate about having a chip without cams being pointless. At WOT it takes the car forever it seems to shift out of first. Now with the cams and gears it flies. Glad you enjoyed your new mods!
