yeah i knew it was the air being sucked that produced the throatier sound, but the bov sound kinda baffled me, both of my cars before my focus were turbo, i had a talon and a laser, so when i first went for a drive and heard that bov sound it baffled me

It goes away when you put on a 65mm TB, or at least mine did anyway. I didnt like that sound at first, but i got used to it and liked it. And then i put on the throttle body and it went away, i was mad for a while, but now i really dont mind it. By the way, i have a custom cai with a long cone filter. IMO, the short ram sounds better, but since i havent got around to making a heat shield, i put the filter low to the ground.

Mine is a homemade one and the pictures are in my gallery......i like the one that cruzstyle made....and i think if i can think of a way to do it without having to file or carve anything i might just convert to something like that.

ZXRR, Thanks for the priceless idea! I just made my short ram over this weekend, and oooooh boy! I could instantly notice the hp gain. Now i just need to get my exhaust to let my foci breathe freely. Thanks for your post, definitely helpful.

i'll be installing my home intake on friday or sometime this week. about to order a front strut bar also so i guess when it comes in i'll get to work.

Man it's great to see lots of ppl trying their hand at custom intakes!

It's an easy and inexpensive way to gain 4 to 6hp or so and you can always opt for a more expensive intake later, if you so choose.

that's the whole thing. it's like, why not? also i do plan to buy a nice steeda intake or if wayne gets his dura intake out i will get his in the near future. but for the mean time while budgeted why not try it. see the gains, then see more gains. just to see the dif and compare is a benefit.

well i installed mine this weekend. it's definately worth it. sounds great and the feeling is definately noticed. i'll be doing a custom grill next weekend. the only question about my intake is... does anyone else have a weird sound at shutdown? i'm assuming that it is just the air in the intake at shutdown but i wanted to make sure. if others have this then i won't worry. i've checked and have not leaks, car runs great and everything. please let me know. thanks- J
