I could be imagining things too.... it wasn't a whole lot of difference, just a little wheel spin that didn't seem to be there with the short ram, but that might be from me holding back to keep from sounding too loud.

cruzstyle, I explain just what I did on the 3rd page of this thread. Without carving, I could NOT have turned the MAF sensor around to face the oncoming air. Anyone who's accidently had their MAF sensor turned the wrong way had all sorts of issues and figured out the reason pretty quickly, so I don't understand how you did this, without any carving? How about a picture of your setup?

Just a little heads up. Ford changed the price of the tube that the MAF sits in as of January 1. MSRP for the tube is now $92.03. It does, however have the MAF in it. The MAF by itself is $144.20. Still a significant diffrence in price.

Holy crap, they could only have done that because they saw a bunch of people buying them and decided it's a sellers market. That totally sucks. But thanks for the info, BlacKnight. I guess I got mine just in time. The guy that made that price change probably sells plywood (out of his Excursion) before hurricanes too, the a-hole. Man, from less than $7 to over $90. Unreal.

I don't know. I don't trust that it was just some kind of mistake. One reason I buy appliances from Sears is because they sell all parts for all of their Kenmore products, and the price for any given part is about what you'd expect. If it looks like a $10 part, then it's going to cost $8-12. (Sorry for sounding like a commercial - I don't work there or anything, I just like that the manuals all come with a parts breakdown, and that the parts are all reasonably priced.) In this case, the sensor being included is a shocker, but the plastic tube is just that - a plastic tube. It should only cost $15-20 at most. It's taking someone pennies to make that thing. Selling it for $92 is just because they can. Selling the sensor alone for even more - I don't begin to have an explanation for that.

Heat Shield
I decided to make a Steeda-like heat shield to go along with my Steeda-like intake. I had some galvanized metal laying around, made a paper pattern that I thought would work, cut out the metal piece, painted it, then applied some plastic guarding around the edges, again like Steeda did. I reckon this should help avoid sucking up some of the heat from the engine, since Steeda refers to it as a heat shield. I'll put a larger pic in my Photo Album.

Thanks, jmotank. I might call it Revision 1, since it didn't come out as good as I'd like; I will probably do it again. But in the meantime, I should still realize whatever benefit there is to having the heat shield.
