AutoX today [PICS]

So, I had a blast. Here are the pics for those wondering...http://whitebox.sytes.net:8080/galle...avId=xabf16f3e

I will have other pics up later on along with some videos my bro took.

I am a n00b to auto-x, but think I did well with my 2005 STOCK ZX3. You can see in a couple of the pics the stress I put the car under in the corners ^_^

Now heres a question. Would SVT suspension help a "lot" or a little? This is my daily driver remember, and I will be doing some more auto-x for fun (like next month for instance).

Would SVT suspension keep me in "stock" class?

As for times around the track, if I remember right, average was something like 60-63 secs for MY class. My best time was a 59.8 sec run. I was hoping to get under 1 min today and I did!!!! There were other people there that ran faster than me in my class (a handful of people) and some people who didnt know how to drive their car (a WS6 and z06 who did about 59sec on most their runs). The best of all though was the Twin Turbo V8 Audi. I didnt get to look under the hood, BUT I knew something was fishy when you could see a big ass radiator in the grill...aww man the BOV sounded hawt too....

enough with my rambling...and on with the pics guys ^_^

I smoked up the wheels pretty good too on my first run....alllllll the way around the corner at the far end of the track. Hehe.

Ya, if you upgrade suspension, be prepared to upgrade a lot more to stay competitive in STS

damn....well...I guess I could start by grabbing a rear sway bar...would poly bushing throw me into STS?

AND, whats a good tire pressure to start off with. I just read about the whole chalk your tires thing...

yeah I pushed it as fast as it would go....maybe a bit much in some corners. I think the next auto-x I will slow it down, chalk my tires, keep track of my tire pressure and do better!

Tire pressures need to change with track conditions and what you are doing out there. I started at 45 all the way around and ended up dropping the rears to 40 and let the temp increase the fronts to 47. It's one of them things that you have to tweak around with based on feel. Bring an air tank/compressor and pressure gauge with ya and tweak between runs.

Sway bars should bump you as well. There is not much you can do to your car and stay in stock class, sadly

Soooo....I have a shortshifter and engine poly mounts on order. SVT suspension will come when I get a rear sway bar that fits my 05...

I figure the suspension thing isnt THAT big a deal, and that my stock focus can do better than what I did yesterday...
