HOW-TO Install Shift Knob/Boot on ATX

Yeah I just took the bulb out of the socket. I wish I knew where it is now. I shouldn't have left the wire under the console though. I coulda used it for some kind of lighting.

I can't figure out how to install my momo shift knob.
Those rubber things for making the knob fit on snug, where exactly do they go?
Do you have to cut a hole in the closed up end of the rubber thing?
I am very annoyed that I can't figure this out. Please help.

I had the same problem. The closest one to fitting is too tight. Find the one that fits on the shaft first. It will be too fat for the knob. I trimmed the outside a little bit to fit the knob. They are spacers so the knob doesn't wobble on the plastic shaft.

I just recently finished this mod and it looks awesome. I even took a pipe cutter and cut the shifter almost in half, so now it really looks like a stick shift. talk about confusing for the next person who drives it. they'll be looking for a clutch pedal. lol

I want to do that too. But the console is in the way now and think it would make it more uncomfortable. I suppose I could flip it up but mine's full of stuff. I have to explain my shifter every time I use downtown parking.
