What sorta training or education do you need to be able to fabricate all of that stuff? Or is it just a matter of having some natural ability? And of course the right tools.

I guess its natural ability, and well of course the right tools. I am a Tool and Die Engineer. So I have access to all the nice toys (CNC mills - CNC Lathes and so on....) Most of this started when i bought the car in 2002. I had no idea how an engine really worked. I did some research later and started in november 2004. I designed what i wanted to make and went with it. When you are in charge of your own design and ideas .... you can do anything.
