Fuel Pump

Ok my fuel pump is acting up. Lets say im at a red light about to turn right. Its nice out, a lil warm. so i gun it.. OOPS! now my car is POWERLESS for like 3-4 seconds on a hot day even longer! and i have a full tank of Gas.

ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD OR HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM?

I live in Vegas and i NEVER had this problem untill i moved out here about 2 years ago. I know that this is a common problem with FORD's out here. My old boss had a brand new Mustang
V-6 and she had the same problem even though she has an ATX and I have a MTX. Come to find out HER boss has had the same problem with her company car which is a TAURUS. Hmmm is FORD putting POS fuel pumps on their cars or what?

Heres my question. First off im getting angry at my car! no not that! I'm just going to change the fuel pump my self.

Would it be wise to get a performance pump or Stock (from like autozone)

AND while im at it, Do you think it'll be a good idea to change the injectors and fuel rail?

Finally, are these things a bitch to change?

there's about a 100 threads on this already, the focus has a fuel pump recall. take it to the dealer and have them run your vin #.

I've had my car for a year now and I'm on the third fuel pump.

The first one was buzzing really loud, like a power steering pump with low fluid. I took it in and had it replaced under factory warranty. Then last Monday I was getting ready to go to work, and my car was just cranking and cranking and wouldn't turn over. I looked underneath the car and there was gas just pouring all over the driveway and I had to have it towed to the dealership. They called me and said it was a problem with the fuel pump, and since I had just had it replaced in January they weren't going to charge me for it (my factory warranty is long gone and I'm on the extended now.) Its a typical problem...might as well get used to it.

heh... another one bites the dust.... mine went out a week after i make my 1600 mile journey from alabama to arizona... get it replaced for free at ford...



and dont let them give you gruff about it.... they HAVE to replace it if you're showing symptoms.. which apparently you are

Damn near every 2000 model has their fuel pump recalled. Alot of 2001's do also. It's a recall, no matter if your warranty is finished, FORD replaces it for free. Take the car in.......

there is a recall for the fuel pump thats your problem take it to a Ford Dealer

I agree. Better to change it for free. Besides whats the use of adding a custom fuel pump i you're not running F/I or full blown out N/A.

i just called ford.. they said no recall on my car.. what should i do? they ran my vin and nothing... how much does a pump cost .. if that is my problem?

Will any Ford dealer do it, or does it have to be some place you bought the car from?

If so, if you buy your car used, you're screwed?
