I'm quite satisfied with my MPGs as my wife's commute is only a 2 miles round trip and the car sees about 80-90% city driving and I just filled up this morning and got a calculated 29mpg while the computer average estimate is a steady 27mpg. Car has 7100 miles on it now.

I have an 09 SES that is averaging 32.21 over the last 99k miles.
My lowest was 25.92 after a winter storm and hours long commute.
My highest has been 36.02 in the summer.

I drive a bit faster than you with speeds of 55-60 for the first 25 miles, 70-75 for the next 20 and 45 for the last 5. I don't hypermile, and could probably get a bit better mileage if I slowed down. Another factor in my mileage and possibly yours is that I live in a state that mandates a 10% ethanol blend in all regular unleaded gas. My older Escorts and Tracers lost 2-3 mpg when the switch happened. I don't know how much the Focus loses, because the only E0 gas is premium and that's not comparing apples to apples.

In looking back through my mileage history, I can see that I had many fillups in the first few months under 29, but this winter I have only had 2 fillups under that. Both probably because of the cold weather and warming up the car before leaving.

So after that wall of text, you should probably see much improved mileage soon.
OK Thanks: I was getting pretty upset with the MPG since my ZO6 gets 26 MPG and is an LS7. Thanks for the informative response.

I average 32 in mixed driving. Today decided to test highway mpgs. This was with cruise control set at 62. Coming back home averaged 40 mpg.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using FF Mobile.
MK3 Focus = a lot of good ideas rather poorly executed.

2005 Focus. 2 L. with factory "permanent" air filter. (like K & N type). 5 speed manual and no aftermarket mods. Currently have 216,000 miles and never replaced a clutch! WOW. Anyway, I get 32 MPG in "city" driving but still concerned. When car was new I got 39.6 MPG pure highway. (62 MPH, no A/C on cruise control). BUT, I've lost that highway MPG and worried the air filter is the culprit. Unsure "how" to read the air restriction gauge. Thoughts welcome

2006 2.0 automatic w/permanent air filter box, still in the green on the meter. Lady at the Ford dealer said she's never seen one that needed replacing. I average 30 mpg, mixed driving.

I've had my Focus Titanium Hatchback for a week with 500 miles on it (I've put 400 on it). Got 34 mpg doing 74-75 on the highway but after a couple days of around the town driving it's settled at 28.9 mpg average. I'm coming from a Mitsubishi Montero which got maybe 13 mpg around town so I'm a happy camper as far as mpg goes, even if it doesn't go up after the break-in period.
