I usually only get about 20-22 MPG in town with the air conditioner on all the time. And I get about 30-33 MPG on the highway, with the air on all of the time. Thats what I got the last times I checked it. I also found out my tires were set at 30 pounds each when I checked them and not at 34 like they should be. Dealership boneheads. I think its because I buy cheap gas at Casey's here in Missouri. I know that the quality of the gas makes a huge diffference. I have been told that a lot of places around here water down the gas.

Regardless if I"m on the highway, or city. I can beat my car like a red headed step child or drive like I have Miss Daisy with me, I get 25-27mpg. Unless I'm doing alot of spraying, then it dips a bit more. ;)
if bottles are for babies and real men get blown, wtf am i?

I think I'm in the same boat.

I get around 22-24mpg at best. '03 2.3 liter PZEV, standard shift, rarely use the A/C and don't have a lead foot with the exception of the odd race at the light. But I live in a town with one flat road and the rest is just hills.

My boyfriend is in the same boat with his '05.

In fairness I have noticed shifting plays a huge role in this. When I got the car, I just thought the Focus had a crappy shift.. the first sign that it's the loose nut behind the wheel. My previous car, a New Beetle, you had to floor the clutch and bring it back up. In my Focus, you do that and it's a jerky ride for all involved.

I've stopped completely flooring the clutch then bringing it back up while flooring the gas (ala Bug). Use alot less gas and none of that clacking when shifting gears by only half-pressing the clutch/gas on the seasaw. It has helped my milage a bit.

Driving style is everything.. It can make a huge dif. as many of you have already seen.
Speed is only a matter of money; how fast do you want to go?
