Mileage - ZX5 mtx

Well I had my first test of straight highway driving, and was pleasantly amazed with my mileage.

I kept at a steady 115 kph /70 mph with occasional bursts to 125 on a 3 hour highway drive this past weekend. Although there are some small hills the car never left 5th gear.
I got 45.3 mpg! (about 37.7 in US gal).

Not bad. Not scientific...but not bad

My car is stock ( but well maintained) and was loaded with 2 adults and a couple hundred pounds of "stuff". No a/c was used as it was a cool and rainy weekend.

At $0.91 per litre for gas I really appreciate this car!

i make a 600 mile trip about every other weekend in my 05 zx3.. and out of 14 gallons of gas, my best mileage was 412miles. When i filled up i had a gallon left in the tank. So roughly i get 30miles per gallon. I usually average about 80mph going up and down I-95.

Just got back from a 3 hour road trip. On the same trip, maybe a cooler day, i got about 29MPG. All I did was raise my Tire Pressure from 35 PSI to 40 PSI and i got 33MPG. Now this wasn't all highway driving either. I drove mostly highway but had some city driving and some hilly country roads as well. I also had 2 other people in the car than on the previous trip. Plus the added weight of their stuff for a 2 day stay while we're down there. So going up the hill it was sluggish and i had to down shift to make it up some of the steeper hills because of the extra 400 lbs or so. I was able to drive 336 miles to 10.004 gallons. It work out to be almost 33.6 but i say about 33. That was the most i've ever got ever! I was surprised what the extra 5PSI in each tire increased nearly 4 MPG. My tires are rated at 44 MAX PSI and i felt safe to go to 40 PSI instead of 35 PSI. Just figured i'd share my find. Enjoy....

I am normally in the 35-40 range. I just take my time accelerating and shift early. I usually don't drive faster than 55. The worst tank I had I averaged 29.5 mpg.
