That's weird. I've gotten up to 35mpg highway with my ST.

I used to get an average of 35MPG with my petrol 1.8 zetec, around 25MPG with the ST170.

(Diesel)Around 45MPG (average) with the TDDI focus, and an average of 48MPG with my current TDCI focus wagon.

On a long straight, steady run, i have peaked at 65MPG with the TDCI.

I use the diesel version for work, i'm a delivery driver, and sometimes the engine isn't switched off for 5-6 hours at a time, with fuel costing the equivalent of $13.00 per gallon in the UK, we need the diesels for high mileage use.

I drive a 1.6l (yes, I know it's not the most powerful thing around, but I'll manage) petrol five door with manual transmission. I get around 35MPG+ in normal driving. The best I've gotten so far was 44MPG, cruising in the highway.

This might be overkill but I have kept up with my mileage since the car was brand new... The best I ever got was 31.5 on my way to New Orleans with me and three of my buddies in the car. The worst was 20.8 and thats because it was cold cold cold outside and it stayed idle for long periods on that tank. But on Average I stay in the 27-28 mpg range. It really doesn't move out of that range at all... If I drive it alittle hard or baby it, it will always 9/10 times be in the 27-28 range. Kinda weird... lol

I'm just getting about 29+ in the city
I accelerate then I let go of the pedal and kinda just pulse on it gently so its like giving it gas every other second but only pushing it down a little teeny bit
but I only do that after it has accelerated to the speed I want to keep it at then I let go of the pedal and just let it coast downhill and to stop lights

On the highway I experimented for the heck of it I got 44.2mpg to go from Warwick, RI to Boston, MA
I drove at 65 and below the whole way about 60-65ish along with the coasting and the pedal thing I mentioned above but when I happen to notice I sped up to 70s I let go and let it coast back to 65ish

I have a 09 Focus Sedan SE Automatic

My Ford Focus gets pretty gas mileage in the city, but out on the interstate (I usually drive 70-75 MPH) it sucks the gas down like crazy and I do not drive iradically (or however you spell it) either...

After my trip from Palm beach to Jacksonville, Fl, on the highway doing a constant 80 with cruise control, i averaged about 27mpg. Daily driving to school and work i get 24mpg.

At least my car is faster than my brothers Yaris cus he gets 38mpg city/hwy driving.
