I got my Focus for the mileage and I'm getting 25mpg with a manual and 90 percent highway at 65mph... not really what they advertise is it?

2001 zx3 mtx with 73k miles and a homemade SRI:
worst was in the middle of winter, to and from work (a few miles) with the defrost on the whole time, got 21 that tank lol.
Average around town in the summer is 26-27, and I flirt with 30 on the commute to and from school. I dont go easy on her either

Wanted to update my '07ST, ~3400 miles . I took a trip From Texas to Illinois recently and was very surprised. Ah, I've also been keeping track of my mileage since day 1.

1st fill ever, 2nd fill, etc... 23.5 , 25.7 , 31.05 , 30.2 , 27 ,

35.23!! (first tank on trip, filled w/ Chevron reg, nice wind at my back. Also ~10 miles after first oil/filter change, 5w20 Motorcraft, Bosch Filter @ 1763 miles) ,

31.3 (head to side wind, storm in Ok plus 75mph on turnpike) ,

32.7 (what I believe to be avg hwy, nice day @ 67-72mph, light headwind in Illinois after St. Louis) ,

26.59 (last 100miles of the journey then all city) ,

27.79 (70 mile trip but more fun than usual, odd)

Averaging 29.1 mpg in about 65% highway or 45 plus mph. Max on highway is 75 ( Turnpike in Ok or by accident), mostly at 67-72. Shift at around 3k and don't accelarate fast, usually slower than everyone else. I've only hit 5k rpms 3 times and over once to 5250k. You don't have to work too hard to get good mileage (imo), just don't drive and brake like you're 16 w/ your first car and you're gtg. I'm pretty satisfied atm and almost done with my break-in routine.

I just took a road trip in my '05 ZX3/5sp. I traveled 1898 miles, and I consumed 53.4 gallons of fuel which averages out to 35.54mpg. Below is what I got for each leg of the trip:

Start (Sierra Village CA): 26142 miles - Full Tank
Redding CA: 26421 - 279 miles - 7.9 gallons - 35.3mpg
Bend OR: 26697 - 276 miles - 7.61 gallons - 36.27mpg
Yakima WA: 26933 - 236 miles - 6.77 gallons - 34.86mpg
Yakima WA (after Mt. St. Helens Trip): 27217 - 284 miles - 7.91 gallons - 35.9mpg
Bend OR: 27472 - 255 miles - 7.63 gallons - 33.42mpg
Redding CA: 27747 - 275 miles - 6.97 gallons - 39.45mpg
End (Twain Harte CA): 28040 - 293 miles - 8.61 gallons - 34.03mpg

I filled it up with 89 octane every time, I find the car runs better on this and that the computer doesn't have to change the timing to prevent ping as often (10:1 compression and all). Four of the fill-ups were at Chevron, two at an AM/PM, and the other start and finish fill-ups were at local gas stations that are not part of a chain. For speeds, all of the California driving was mostly 75mph, with some 80mph mixed in, and a good stretch of 55mph. Oregon limits are all 55mph, but where I was going was out in the boonies so I generally went 65 (as did everybody else). Washington was mostly 65mph. Some of the areas were fairly mountainous, but going down one side of the mountain generally makes up for going up the first side. The trip between Bend, OR. and Redding, CA. is great for gas milage as there is a very long stretch that is perfectly straight and flat for about 50 miles with a 55mph limit so the car just sips fuel.

Overall the car did great. I did a fair bit of city driving in Washington, along with about 24 miles of rally on gravel (very fun and the car did very well for being mostly stock). But it didn't require much WOT driving.

I never really pay any attention to MPG, i could honestly careless to waste my time figuring out how to shave a .7 or .1 off of my MPG.
To be honest it gets what it gets whatever that maybe, some weeks are better than others, all depends on who if anyone i go up against at the next light.
Thats it Mr.! You just lost your brain privileges!

Last time after a rough round it was 27. But my K&N filter hadn't been cleaned in like 40,000 miles. I'm expecting it to be a little higher now, I will do a formal test after my lead foot goes away. It just feels so much better with a clean filter.

BTW, my car is auto, so that's why that seems so low.
Yes, that is a banana in my pocket.

I get around 9.4 litres per 100kms. I have no idea how to convert that to MPG but it's an 07 and I'm getting around 500kms to a tank (310 miles). It seems efficient enough, first post woop.
