Post here if you have lowering springs and OEM shocks...

I am a new Focus owner, and the suspension seems to be a little weak. I did a couple of searches but didn't really find what I was looking for.

My car seems to be more "bouncy" than I would like, and the OEM springs seem to be fairly soft. I am wondering if replacing just the springs will make the suspension feel better, or if the springs and shocks both need replaced.

So, my question really is..... would it be better to replace just the shocks, or just the springs.

So post up your opinion if you are riding on stock shocks, and lowering springs, or aftermarket shocks and stock springs, or a full suspension kit.

Thanks,
Dave

Don't cheap out. If you do it, do it right the first time. Get a full kit.

-Yes i know that many are out there on stock dampers and struts, but you know that it is not 100% what you want, and that you WILL need to replace the dampers and struts in time.

I am lowered with progress Springs and SVT dampers, and they are starting to go....They have about 40k on them or so.. It is about time to replace them, whenever i get around to it.

Yeah, general opinion is just to do it right the first time like Chaney said. If you use 1.5 inch drop or less, you'll be able to squek by with the stockers for a while, but they will wear out faster the more you drop it. A couple of companies make a 1.5" drop, and the stock SVT suspension will give you about a .5" drop.

Tein S Springs on stock dampners with a 2001 Sedan. Ride Quality= sucky. I squeal like a virgin on a prom date if i hit any bumps or sudden dips in the road. Aint too much fun. Do it right the first time and get it all at once. Unless of course funds are an issue and your sick and tired of climbing in your car. I was... You'll get the full feel of your new springs when you accompany them with the proper dampners.

just got mine installed sunday. just springs so i'm on stock struts and dampers. ride is kinda bouncy if you ask me, but it looks way better. also i hear a strange sound when turning my wheel sometimes. especially if i'm backing up. its weird but i hope its nothing i should worry about.

thanks for the reply's. I just ordered a set of wheels and i'm concerned about looking like a Jeep.

I'm not especially impressed with the stock shocks anyway. I'm thinking of getting the KYB AGX's with the Teins, or getting the full Eibach kit.

It's probably a tire rubbing. What size are your wheels and tires?

^15" stockers. i dont think its the tire rubbing. seems more like the spring settling in? one of my friends heard the same thing and told me it was the springs settling in but i doubt it since these springs are used. am i wrong?
