thats not totally true, there is a special weight which it activates at... only reason i know is my ex GF would sit in the pass seat and the light would come on that the bag was off.... added some books and stuff in her lap and it went off with the added weight.....

I believe it is off under 50lbs of weight, but the light is only on when there is enough weight for it to sense.
