It bolts to the windage tray. If it's not lining up flip the darn thing around till you can line the holes up. You already know my feelings on this guy. Every week it's something else that's delaying your car. What does this guy do, run into a problem and then doesn't try to solve it til the next week? He took the car apart and now he doesn't know how it goes back together? You got the big bracket that bolts to the windage tray (3bolts), then the u shaped bracket that bolts around the carrier bearing and bolts to the big 3 holed bracket that's bolted to the windage tray. That's it, not much to it.

If I can put back together a SVT that I didn't take apart then this guy can put back together a car he did take apart. Just my opinion..

It does bolt to the windage tray as stated by others. there are three small bolts and then the CV "bearing" is held in while a crescent plate goes in with 2 bolts to secure the bearing. The threads are machined on the windage tray however the general points are part of the cast so will not be wrong (and your PS CV mount fit fine before right?)

Likely its not fully seated in the transmission or the motor is not correctly installed if he is really having problems.

are these the old CV shafts or did he get new? could have gotten the wrong kind or length. When doing my rebuild there was ZERO issue on getting the PS CV shaft in. the driver side took a bit of work due to the clip. Ask him to fill the transmission with fluid and see if it leaks from the PS seal of the transmission. If it does he needs to seat the CV shaft correctly in the transmission first.

BIG THANKS GUYS!!!! I was right about what that part is!!! WOW!!! LOL

Freemind, pakal0l0?????? is that like d00d00????? ;-)

Paul, Magus, and all the others that have chimed in. I kind of felt the way you do Paul, like he's trying to make some money since I paid for all the parts so this is the way to do it..............

Magus the shafts are new but were on the car when he started the rebuild so that shouldn't be an issue. He mentioned that he had to replace the windage tray due to something so now he thinks its wrong, which is kind of odd to me. Anyway I'm going to walk over there and se what I can do without pissing him off. He still has some work to do before its done and I don't want to end up owing him a lot more money!!!

You should know exactly why the windage tray needed to be replaced. the only one I have seen needing replacement is the person on here who blew a hole through the side of his. You should also have the right to the old part or he needed to provide it to you so you can do a side by side compare.

Ok his "story" makes more sense now. Since we have established that that is the windage tray and I punched a hole in it. He replaced the block by matching the numbers on it, and this windage tray came with. It's probably an escort block and tray. And the holes are different. I'll attach some photos in a few minutes that shows the problem in this post.

The windage tray lacking the top mounting hole(s) of the required 3;

The bracket shows three mount points and the tray only has 2;

So I think he's actually trying to do it right but he's his own worst enemy......... Kind'a what Magus eluded to in a PM to me!! Hammer, Nail, ed IT! ;-)

Again you guys have come through for the Tarded arse 0 mine!! I love you guys, in a strickly manly way of course!!

I'm going to start a new thread about my next concern so you guys feel free to chime in there as well. Will add a link once I've started it.....

This may be no faster or cheaper fix, but might save from replacing the windage tray ...

thielt1 is building a RS. It has a different way of mounting the CV:

PN 1M50 3K305BA

I can't say for certain but that might be a way around the WT issue, and if it is it's a far better mounting system that what we have now.

The strange thing is that the Escort has no carrier bearing. The PS CV is a long 1 piece shaft. Not sure on the Contour.
But if the Contour is a 2 piece shaft and that's what the WT is from, one has to assume there is another bracket that goes with it.
Looked on Google and found nothing. Call Ford and see what they can find for a bracket vs the Focus.
PN for the Contour bracket - F5RZ3K305A

...

But come to think of it, neither the Escort nor Contour have a WT. They just have a larger oil pan.
So this whole thing is a bit strange.

There's my lil buddy.............................. Satan!!

I am thankful for your input. You are probably right about it being a Contour Bracket..........

I missed the boat by not researching sooner, (like Monday) when Steve called me. He ordered the part from Ford and its a done deal. I found a newish one at C-F-M that was removed from a new engine and was almost half the price but to no avail since Steve can't return the special order to Ford. I may look into the theil1 part and replace the current bracket in the future. As always you supply AWESOME info my br0ther fr0m a Satanic m0ther!

Much Appreciated!! SIR!!

Edit

Ya know, after looking at your pic I realize I didn't notice if the block had a/or any mounting hole(s) in it.

I'm now thinking I should call Steve and ask him about that. If I had seen this before I walked down there I would have been more observant.......

I hate not having a car!!!!!! [head expl0dez!!]
