Reverse Lockout
ok I have a 2001 SOHC SPI sedan and ive been to diffrent websites looking for short throw shifters. I want to know if i have reverse lockout or not? In my owners manual it says that vehicles equiped with the zetec you have to pull up on shift knob to go into reverse. However it doesnt say if that is reverse lockout or not. Some one help.

that is a reverse lockout. basically you can't throw your shifter into reverse without a "special" action (pulling up the knob)
you can remove the reverse lockout if you want, just take the shifter boot off and cut off the nub on the shifter housing

no, just buy a shifter made for your car. a NON reverse lock out shifter. they startewd the lock out style after 2002.5 i believe.

I for one have had a problem finding a short shifter w/o rev. LO. I'm thinkin I might just take a dremel to my own...

Guys! The IB5 doesn't have reverse lockout. AND, since it's a different transmission, try looking for the short shifter MADE for the transmission YOU HAVE! No MTX-75 shifter will work.
