Why WRC isn't accepted??

Can anyone for the life of me figure out why WRC is not popular in the states?? I stay up to watch the rally every sunday night that they have it on and I just get real excited about it. I love how the races are based on the drivers skill and not on who wrecks and takes them out as well like NASCAR is. The car set-up is crucial as well but so is NASCAR's so that is not a real comparison. The other real attracting feature to me is that the cars in the rally actuall look like the cars you can buy at a dealership. Those NASCAR cars used to look exactly like street cars too but have really gotten off the map and the cars today look nothing like the cars they are supposed to resemble. Is anyone else as frustrated as me as to why this is not being accepted here?? Okay I am done bitching . i feel better now.

i love speed channel. I used to watch WRC all the time but my girlfriend doesn't have it here...

Which team do you favor? I think Richard Burns drives really well for subaru.

I am all about Suby and Solberg right now. Gronholm and Loeb are great to watch as well. Ford really had a good team going but from some reason dropped Martin and Duval. Word was Ford cut the funding for the team but they are still doing fairly well this year with their young drivers.

i heard that funding was cut and thats part why McCrae does drive the focus , so more money could be for the car. They also used alot of parts that were simalar to the stock ones, made of better materials of course, which cut down on tooling and manufactuing costs. I read an article in ssc about all the rally cars the focus was one of the better cars in there opion.

Ain't that the truth?! I just can't fathom it I guess. I would much rather see a car pushed to it's limits like in WRC. Mud,rain, and snow...it just doesn't matter what environment these guys drive in they still drive like nuts. When even the hint of rain shows at NASCAR ...well it's time to call it a day. ughh....

In my opinion it's difference in cultures and driving styles. Americans having the big V8 and highways will always like going as straight as possible. On the other hand in Europe smaller cars, smaller streets, and more curves to manuver. I personally follow WRC, I was just watching the Italian Rally this weekend. This is one of the things that attracts me to races such as Formula 1 and WRC, they go to different tracks in different countries to me that makes it the more interesting. Also what you mentoned about cars looking pretty similar to the stock cars we can buy is another factor why I like it so much.

Oh and blackandgold, Loeb is taking it again this year no doubt!

I am in love with the Suby, heck it's my next car I'm investing in. No way is it not going to be an STi.

I think it's because Americans just favor the driving style of cement and straightaways. They think V(x) > *.

I'm the Jeep and rally fan. I love the up and downs and feeling the G's of turning more than anything else, which is why I value handling so much.

Let them have their Nascar, one thing's for sure, I have more fun going through dirt, giant puddles, and powersliding with my Focus than they do getting pulled over for doing 80 in a 50. =0)

For all of us rally-inspired enthusiasts, *thumbs up*.

what i like about wrc is that they use real cars...
in nascar you are using some frame big ass engine AND platic body...the body look like RC body kits...do they do number-paint on them?
