Aem Cold Air

I got my new AEM CAI (the old one got beat up in storage).

First off, it 'looks' like a slightly new design. Few minor changes. Looks like the MAF mount is clocked a little better, and its in a position to take more accurate readings. Also, the Filter has a lip on it now, so you cant stick the filter 'too far' onto the pipe causing less flow.

I've had this and the AEM Short Ram since about the first 6mo's of having my car. Wont use anything else.

I just wanted to add, to those that plan to get an AEM CAI, you DO NOT have to take the battery out as the instructions say. Its a bit of a chore with the battery in the way, but you save a good 20-30 minutes on install time.

I prepped the upper pipe with both couplers, clamps, etc. Lower pipe had the 90* elbow for the crank vent and filter in place. I put the top on (with lower clamps in a good spot to reach w/out battery removal, and then installed the lower section.

According to my AEM UEGO Wideband o2, I am getting a 12.7-12.8 (optimal a/f for NA Foci) with my CAI and Hypnotic tune. With the AEM shorty (and maybe any shorty) I was in the 12.2-12.5 range. Idle and Part throttle is 14.6-15.1 - very nice!!!

Sure is nice having a wideband on board!!!!

Oh, and the sound....unbeatable...sounds totally different than an underhood system. Torque is a little better. And right at 7600 it rips this roar that is so awesome; Amber said "What the hell was that!?" Heh, thats my AEM Intake roaring...

Lovin the cold air again!!! Pics coming shortly!

Yeah, I get the 'turbo whistle' - I missed that effect!

I know what you mean, I love mine too, the sound is incredible! I have the whistle too, it is due to the design of the throttle body butterfly, it is actually slightly V shaped, not flat.
