'05 ATX gas mileage survey

Is anyone else disappointed in their gas mileage? I've got 4000+ miles on it now, I'm on my 2nd oil change (Motorcraft 5w20) and just got 22 MPG at my last fillup around town. Last month on road trip up I-75 in Florida, it finally broke 30MPG on the highway drive @75 MPH with the A/C off with the cruise control on. Most of the other legs of the trip it got 28MPG on the highway.

The car is rated at 26/32. Most of my around town driving is just a single person in the car. It usually shifts about 3000 RPM. I could give it a little less gas and make it shift at 2000, but risk getting run over by Hyundias. I own nothing but Fords, usually they get what they are rated or better. My Expidition with a 5.4 is rated at 13MPG and I get 14 MPG around town it if that is an indication of my driving habits.

I also have a 05 zx4 with approx 4,000 miles. I drive mainly highway miles 80/20. I have been averaging 26mpg with a low of 24 and a high of 28. I had hope it get better my old 03 with a z tech usually avg. around 28. Maybe with more miles it will improve. It been my exp.
that the epa stickers are hard to achieve but I would hope to get 30mpg on the highway.
Time will tell, however on the brite side of things the 2.0 duratec certainly has more power.

Ive been getting normally 22-26mpg, and I deliver pizza, so its all stop and go.

Drive 50/50 highway and street.
Have about 3K miles on the odometer.
Getting about 22-25mpg...

yeah i drive mostly city streets, but i have been getting around 29-35 mpg. sometimes im heavy on the throttle and that can drop to like 26 but most the time i just cruise around. i have just over 4k miles on the car. sorry to hear you guys arent getting what the ratings are.

We are averaging 25 mpg on both my 05 ZX3 and my wifes 05 ZX4. Hoping to get better with more miles. I just turned over 1K on mine but she has about 10K on hers already.

I'm pissed that my 05 zx4 gets only about 23 MPG with mostly highway miles

Yep, I too only get about 22mpg in combined 'City - Freeway" driving in my 05 ZX3 2.0. It's a little dissapointing, but considering that my Lifted 97 F150 5.4 liter 4x4 was only getting about 10 in the city and 15 on the freeway I'm not upset about it.
California has the highest gas prices in the nation!!!!! What's up with that???

Well, you guys that are getting bad mileage, do you have autos or stick? That will make a big difference also.

As for me, I have 100 something miles on the odo, and Im on my first tank of gas still ^_^ Havent used 1/4 of a tank yet, so Im assuming it will be what the suggested ratings are. I have an 05 ZX3 5 speed.

I have avg about 24-26 mpg. City/hwy, and a lot of idle time .(cold weather... which tends to aid in gas consumption). I must admit I am proabally hard on my car too. I am use to a V8. I have about 1000 miles on it. I am not too dissappointed.. ... my SHO gets 19/24 mpg (20 mpg avg) a high 27 mpg hwy.

It is cheaper to fill the tank though.

I bet if I go easy.... "yeah right", I could get 30 mpg with my MTX
