SVT crate engine into contour

is it possible to drop the SVT focus crate engine into a contour 5 speed? If it is, how much do you guys think it would cost minus the cost of the engine?

you would need all the electronic gear.. wiring harness, computer and so on. Your gages probably won't work after the swap either. A little more complicated than you think. Swaps usually aren't worth it in a newer car.

Well, the SVT engine is still a zetec, so if it was going into a contour that had the zetec before then that would be easier. I'm sure the engine mounts are the same. How much are the computers?

if i'm not mistaken..
the contour have a duratec....

anyway...
it would be at least as hard as to drop a svt engine in regular focus...

Well, the V6 contours are duratecs, but the I4 is a zetec. I mean, if I had a shop drop the engine in, and then I bought the computer and had diagrams of how it all went together, I'm sure I could wire it up myself.

Better yet, if you are going to that much trouble, how about an SHO drivetrain?

because I like the sound of 4 cylinders better, and there's kind of a purist 4 cylinder thing about it. with the 4 I would get a lot more respect from the rice crowd too. I dunno, I prolly wouldn't do it anyway, I just wanted to look into it.

You may be a "purist" and might get respect, but you'll have to throw money at it to make it work and fast; get an SVT Contour, and use all the money you saved for mods. SVTs are about as mush as SVTFs
