Push button ??? I'm confused..

Sounds like either a weak battery or a bad starter solenoid... What do you mean by "push button??

I believe he has the engine start button, But turning the key over gets a click sound, prolly from an overworked replay, or ignition switch.

the starter doesn't sound like the problem if the button is able to make the car function.

i wired the button up to the battery, then put another wire from the button running into the ignition wire. hence when i push the button the ignition is bypassed to the push button to start the key by me turning the key to where i would to start the car leaving it there, then holding the button till my car starts

Sounds like you have a bad ignition tumbler ( the one on my ranger failed ), there are small contacts inside of the ignition switch that can get damaged ... Better to let a shop replace them unless you have previous experience.. Yeah, the starter is obviously good and so is the battery from your description.

i dont know haow its called, but under the steering wheel theres a small key (like a chip) if you take that out your car wont start, try to see if its in its place. Or in the fuse box under the hood chek all the big fuses the green ones and the orange (i believe its 30 an 40) if one is burned it wont start. Hope that helps!

focus not starting

Our car has had problems [off and on] with starting.
we had the ignition replace in the fall - then the starter - now it is back to not starting again. the mechanic is stumped.
Our original key had a chip in it - the new one does not - he says the chip is located in the bottom of the iginition...is cheaper to do.

I will take the picture to him and what the replies have said - does anyone else have more info?

Thanks, suep6
