my 1/4 mile time stock 2.0l duratec

well i ran my car yesterday at the local track its a stock 05 zx3 only got two runs though, cars were breakin left and right, any ways first run was a 16.8@81mph second run was a 16.7@82mph,i guess thats not too bad but i just didnt get enough runs. the car seems like it will go a little faster i couldnt get the tires to hook up that good they spun a good bit off the line, however i was leaving at 2500 rpm,and shifting at 5000 rpm, hopefully i will get to do some more runs and,i just need some more time to get adjusted to the car and have some more runs i think it will at least do a 16.5 stock maybe in a couple weeks i'll try again hopefully i get more than two runs later guys!

If you were only sifting at 5000 rpm's you can go quite a bit faster. Dyno's show the 2.0 to have power right up to redline. You should be shifting right before hitting the limiter.

those time seem close to what i was running, i took my car down to byron (dont know if u know where that is) but my fastest time was a 16.58 at like 82mph. yeah my car is still breaking in a little i only had like 1,500 miles on it when i was running, but yeah take it up to 6,200 rmps and you'll get there.

go higher - it'll be faster. the 1-2 step up in ratio in the MTX-75 is pretty steep.

the 1-2 shift at 5000 rpm in 1st, puts you at 2900 rpm when starting 2nd gear. not good.
the 1-2 shift if at 6200rpm in 1st, puts you only at 3600 rpm in 2nd. better times for sure.
but... if you shifted at 6700rpm in 1st, you'd hit second at 3900 rpm - a lot closer to your power band

(power band - distance on dyno plot between peak tq figure and peak hp figure).

yea id lower tire pressure in front to 25-27psi,raise rear to 40psi and rev her out to just before limiter and shift there youll pry gain .2-.3 sec...off et..also let engine cool for 1hr to 1.5 hr between runs.....jess
